According to the 1891 census for Broomspring Lane, the Pinder family were living at and running the Springfield Hotel pub. James and Sarah had 2 sons and 3 daughters. It seems that it may have been Sarah and an employed Barmaid who ran the pub on a day to day basis as James and the eldest son Edward both mainly worked running the family Electroplate manufacturing company.

This image from Picture Sheffield shows the pub much later in 1989, by this time called the Springfield Tavern. The pub closed in around 2010, and was quickly converted into rented accommodation.
